蓝色粉状物，易溶于水呈鲜艳蓝色溶液，微溶于溶纤素，不溶于其他有机溶剂。遇浓硫酸呈蓝光绿色溶液，稀释后呈蓝色；遇浓硝酸呈红光紫色溶液；

其水溶液加 10% 硫酸无变化，加氢氧化钠溶液呈红光蓝色。对纤维素染色，染料吸尽性很好，温度在 60-80 ℃时亲合力*。拔染性很好。
